Dynamic Dunescapes

Penhale Dunes is the largest sand dune system in Cornwall and with sand dunes listed as the habitat most at risk in Europe for biodiversity loss, it’s an important area to protect for nature. ‘Dune notching’ work, funded by the Dynamic Dunescapes project, aims to rejuvenate some areas, by using large machinery to increase the amount of bare sand and make these over-stabilised foredunes more mobile again. Join Cornwall Wildlife Trust staff to learn more about this work and how it aims to help dune wildlife.

Please note, this event involves a walk of around two hours across very uneven ground, so sturdy footwear is essential. Parking will be available at the check-in car park at Perran Sands Holiday Park, which will be our start and finish location (What3Words:pops.zoomed.racetrack). During the walk we will visit the military training ground, which is not usually accessible to the public.
