Volunteers have been an essential part of the Dynamic Dunescapes project
We are thrilled to have been the beneficiaries of the equivalent hours to 7,467 days of volunteer activity for our sand dunes. The opportunities that we have provided across our dune project sites have included helping to remove invasive plant species and restoring dune slack ponds, to identifying plants and conducting species surveys.
The project partners have created 947 new volunteering opportunities involving 4,827 volunteers. Our teams have run 154 training events online and in person for 1,108 volunteers. We estimate that this adds up to approximately £429,600 in-kind contribution across all volunteer activity - thank you to everyone involved!
Volunteers have played an important role in the conservation work of all of the project’s partner organisations; we have even found some old black and white photos of Natural England volunteers working on the dunes at Saltfleetby in Lincolnshire from the 1970s.
