How was this animation created?

Using video footage of the Lincolnshire coastline, including views over Dynamic Dunescapes site Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe NNR and clips of the wildlife that can be found there, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust worked with Juneau Projects to create a very short film.

Each of the frames of this film were individually printed out. We put them in some activity kits with everything you'd need to get involved in the project - such as paints, paint brushes, a welcome letter and an instruction video.

These kits were then sent out to different groups within the local community, and individuals could then paint a frame each in their own style as part of an activity session. This was done by placing a clear plastic page over the printed image of their chosen frame, which participants could paint onto. We delivered kits to school classes, community groups, charity groups, and care and residential homes, and hope that the experience helped those involved connect with nature and with Lincolnshire's beautiful coastline.

These painted frames were sent back to us, and Philip and Ben from Juneau projects put them all back in order and used them to make the animation you can see today.

Juneau also created a bespoke soundtrack to the video. See if you can spot the natterjack toad and the cuckoo - two of the enchanting species that can be found on this part of the Lincolnshire coastline.

All groups were allowed to keep the art kits for future activities.

One of the groups involved in the frame painting was the Magna Vitae Community Group. The session leader had this to say:

“The first group enjoyed it very much with several commenting they were pleased they came and how it had brought memories back about their enjoyment of painting. What went down well was the fact we weren’t looking for talented artists which seemed to allow them to be much more engaged with having a go.”
