What's on at Woolacombe Dunes?
10:15-14:45 Wood Carving
Have you ever tried to carve a flower from wood? Well under the guidance of National Trust's Paul South, you can give it a go yourself! Join Paul at the Dynamic Dunescapes Gazebo at Woolacombe dunes and have a go at carving a wooden flower. These are drop-in sessions, so do not have to book your place. Only 6 individuals will be allowed to carve with Paul at one time. All equipment will be provided. The minimum age requirement for this activity is 8.Find Paul between:

10:30 -12:00, 13:00 – 14:30: Butterfly Walk
Join us for a guided butterfly walk at Woolacombe sand dunes with butterfly expert Gary Watson. Learn to spot some of the butterfly species that you commonly find on Devon's sand dunes, and spend time exploring Woolacombe's beautiful coastal landscapes. There will be two butterfly walks scheduled on the day. We will meet at the seating area below the Porthole café 5 minutes before the walk start time.
Spaces on these walks are limited to 20 people per walk. Booking is essential - please email beverley.phillips@nationaltrust.org.uk to secure your space.
11:00am - 12:30pm Mindfulness walk and yoga
Led by National Trust Ranger Josey Field, this walk and yoga session will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and reset the mind. It will comprise of a 1.5-hour walk led, utilising mindfulness techniques followed by a relaxing yoga session on the dunes at Woolacombe.
Meeting point on Woolacombe sand dunes TBC. 10 spaces area available and advance booking is essential. Please email Beverley.phillips@nationaltrust.org.uk to secure your space and the meeting point will be emailed to you when confirmed.
You will be required to bring your own yoga mat. Steep terrain may be covered during the mindfulness walk, so please wear sensible clothing and shoes.




12:00pm – 2:00pm: Woolacombe Wildlife Photography Walk & Workshop with Mark Clinton Johnson
Join Devon photographer Mark Clinton Johnson for a guided photography walk and workshop in search of wildlife at Woolacombe sand dunes. In this two-hour session, Mark will guide participants through the dunes, supporting you in using your cameras or mobile phones and sharing some of his top tips and techniques to help you take better wildlife photos.
You can find out more about Mark and see some examples of his photography on his Instagram page, or in a blog that he wrote for Dynamic Dunescapes, titled, 'Mushrooms: A Photographer’s Guide to Finding the Unexpected in the Dunes.' Bring your own cameras and phones. The walk may cover some steep terrain so make sure you are prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear.
10:00pm – 3:00pm: Meet the Dogs Trust
The Dogs Trust will be joining us throughout the day at Woolacombe, offering advice and top tips on walking your dog in the countryside. Find them at the Dogs Trust Gazebo between 10:00pm – 3:00pm, and will be available to chat about services they offer for dog owners, such as the free Canine Care Card Service.
At 11:15, there will be a 30-minute talk about Dogs Trust that will explore the trust's history, talk about their dog rehoming work as well as other elements of their other actions, and about responsible dog ownership. No booking is required.
Please do not attend this event if you have any Covid-19 symptoms. These sessions are subject to changes in government regulations. Hand sanitiser is available and equipment will be cleaned between participants.
