Litter-pick and Tai Chi at Formby, for World Sand Dune Day

Join our National Trust team at Formby to celebrate World Sand Dune Day with activity sessions including tai-chi and litter picking.

9:30 - 10:30am Tai-Chi on the Beach

Come on down to the beach and have a go at Tai Chi with the glorious backdrop and sounds of the Dunes. Suitable for all abilities. Meet at Lifeboat Road Carpark, this session will take place at Lifeboat Road beach next to the Dunes.

This event will be limited to 30 people, will take place outside and will be socially distant.

10:30 - 11:30pm Dune Discovery Walk

To celebrate World Sand Dune Day we’re hosting a special walk and talk through Formby’s dunes. Join one of the rangers on this sandy adventure, where you’ll find out about how natural forces of wind and sea shape this ever changing landscape, learn some fascinating facts about the amazing wildlife that thrives here and hear more about how we’re working with nature to restore rare dune habitats.

There may be some climbing up and down the sand dunes so best to bring your walking boots or trainers and leave the flip flops at home. If it’s a sunny day don’t forget to pack your suntan lotion, a hat and some water as there’s no shade in the dunes!

Meet at Victoria Road Notice Board. Limited to 30 places

1:30 - 4:30pm Dune Den Activities

Pop along to our dune den at Lifeboat road and discover why sand dunes are so special and what lives in them and how we can help! There will be a number of family friendly activities including making origami jumping Natterjack Toads! The Beach Angels will be join us showing some of the amazing historic litter the have found in the dunes.

2:00 - 3:00pm Litter Pick with Beach Litter Angels

Join the Beach Litter Angels to help keep our dunes litter free. Learn about the impact litter can have and some of the surprising finds. Come and help out our coastal wildlife and enjoy a walk in the dunes! Meet at Lifeboat Road Car Park.
