Help Cornwall Wildlife Trust keep an eye on our fantastic natural lawnmowers as they improve the dunes at Gwithian Green LNR by grazing.
Gwithian Green Local Nature Reserve will soon have ponies grazing it for the first time in a long time! The signs are up and the fencing is out - we're just waiting for the ponies to be brought to the site. Gwithian Green is a great site for many wildflowers and the ponies should help with the long-term management plan here. By grazing, they help to keep vegetation growth under control and maintain a diverse dune grassland, allowing insects and wildflowers to thrive.
The animals will be checked regularly to ensure they are healthy. If you think you'd like to help with this (here or elsewhere), then get in touch! We're creating some training for new volunteer welfare checkers, and organise a rota for checking that our four legged friends are fine and dandy.
