Role Title: Coastal engagement volunteer

Location: Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe NNR, Mablethorpe beach, The Coastal Country Park, Gibraltar Point NNR

What the role involves:

Over the next couple of years, we'll be running activities and events for various audiences to discover, explore and celebrate sand dunes. It’s part of a national project called Dynamic Dunescapes, which aims to address needs identified within our community and restore what is now the most threatened habitat in Europe for biodiversity loss.

If you want to help people connect with nature and wildlife along our coastline and would like to help with the occasional event, we’d love to hear from you. There will be a number of opportunities to choose from based on your own experience, interests and availability. For instance, we will be running dementia-friendly wildlife walks, family activities, arts and crafts, and events for all ages.

Depending of suitability, this role may include any of the following activities:

  • Supervising self-led activities for families to get involved (within their own bubble)
  • Supporting delivery of educational activities for schools
  • Assisting with event activities e.g. pond dipping, wildlife walks, beach art, crafts activities, macrophotography
  • Helping set up or decorate the Dune Den (our inflatable beach gazebo)
  • Sharing your interest in nature, wildlife, art or the coast with others

Benefits:

You'll join a very friendly team of Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust / Natural England staff and volunteers who share a passion for nature, wildlife and the great outdoors. Optional training will be available (e.g. in dementia-awareness, coastal habitats, wildlife identification and working with dog walkers) for you to gain experience and develop new skills. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and give back to the local community.

What skills and experience you will need:

No previous experience is necessary – just an enthusiasm to talk to the public and tell them about our work. We will provide you with all the training and information that you need.

A basic level of fitness may be required for certain roles.

Time Commitment:

This is totally up to you! Opportunities will be available year-round, and you will receive a list of these after expressing interest in the role.
