Citizen Science Field Sessions – Mawbray Banks, Cumbria
14th May, 28th June
AM and PM sessions available
Join our Citizen Science Field Sessions at Mawbray Banks in Cumbria this summer
We have a series of group field sessions planned, exploring the sand dunes and undertaking monitoring and surveying as part of the Dynamic Dunescapes National Citizen Science Scheme. You will help collect data and learn new skills in the field alongside other citizen science volunteers with the help of Engagement Officer Eve, from Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
The training session will involve practise of basic navigation and dune plant ID skills. We will also run through each element of the long-term citizen science scheme including measuring sand dune profile, zonation and vegetation surveys across the site to help us better conserve our sand dunes. We may look at recording some rarer species too!
Volunteers will have the option of adopting an area of sand dune to individually undertake surveying once annually in future.
Meet: Mawbray Banks Car Park, Mawbray Banks Car Park, Silloth, Wigton, Cumbria, CA15 6QS
